Over the next several weeks, we will be working very hard to implement new protocols and procedures. Caring for our patients and providing a calm and safe environment for healing has always been our mission. As we move towards operating under these new conditions, our commitment to safe patient care is top of mind.
COVID-19 Safety Guidelines
You will be informed of your responsibilities at the time of booking and will be directed to the clinic website for a copy of these protocols.
One day prior to your booked appointment, you will be required to complete the online BC COVID-19 Symptom Self-Assessment tool and to stay home if you experience any symptoms of Covid-19. The tool can be found here: https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en
You will be contact by your therapist by phone the day before your appointment to confirm that the self-assessment tool has been completed and to find out more about your reasons for treatment.
All therapists will use the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment tool daily and commit to canceling all appointments if symptoms appear. Symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses and seasonal allergies. An appointment must be cancelled immediately if either you or your therapist presents with even mild symptoms that may be signs of COVID-19.
There will be no charge for last-minute appointment cancellations due to illness.
Appointment scheduling will be done to eliminate the possibility of patients overlapping in common areas. With extra cleaning requirements, we will also be leaving more time in between treatments to maintain these high standards. Please arrive no sooner than 5 minutes before your treatment start time to accommodate these efforts.
You’ll see a poster on the front door. Walking into the clinic confirms that you acknowledge the actions that we expect from our patients to keep everyone as safe as possible. We will ask you to acknowledge you’re familiar with our policies when you arrive.
Our waiting room will be void of reading materials or toys for kids to reduce materials that can harbour germs. We will have only one chair available, covered in plastic/vinyl if waiting is absolutely necessary. Please time your arrival to be as close to your start time as possible to avoid close contact with an exiting patient.
We are strongly encouraging that only patients come to the clinic for appointments. We understand sometimes you need to come with family members or other supports. Unless this is absolutely necessary, we suggest coming into the clinic alone.
Practitioners will be wearing face masks. We suggest the same for all patients coming into the clinic. If you don’t have a mask, we will provide you with a disposable one for $1. Even if you can’t see it, we are still greeting you with the same warm smile. When in the clinic rooms, practitioners and patients will be separated by two meters during consultations whenever possible.
Should you need to use the washroom you are free to use the common washrooms just down the hallway, where you can wash your hands. These are public washrooms maintained by Northland Properties Ltd. and no key is required. We strongly encourage using our hand sanitizer before and after your appointments. You’ll find sanitizer stationed just as you enter the clinic and in treatment rooms.
We will be checking once again, prior to treatment, that you fit the COVID-19 screening criteria and will ask you to review and sign a consent to treat form in our presence, for your file. You may have a copy of this consent upon request.
If possible, please log into your MainEnergy JaneApp account and input a credit card for the payment of your appointments. If you do not wish to have a credit card on file, please let me know and I will make other arrangements. All receipts will be emailed.
We have completed a comprehensive Office Re-opening Plan which outlines our procedures and protocols and it is available for viewing here.
All of these efforts are our way of expediting your experience without sacrificing the quality of your care.
Q&A
Screening measures at time of booking, prior to the appointment, and at the time of the appointment will be carried out in accordance with governing body guidelines.
Disinfectant hand gel will be provided and patients asked to use it upon arrival and upon leaving.
Therapists will be masked at all times. Patients are asked to wear a mask on arrival and when lying face up on the treatment table. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you with one for $1.
Our waiting room has been reduced to one chair that can be disinfected and all other objects removed.
I will be wearing a smock/apron to address the possibility of incidental contact and this will be bundled and bagged at the end of each session along with treatment laundry
Our treatment rooms will be deep cleaned between uses and at the end of each day. This includes beds, chairs, bolsters, shelves, door handles, light switches, and any equipment used during treatment. All linens will be changed between treatments.
All appointments have been staggered to allow for one person at a time in our common hallway.
Credit cards payment and online receipts will eliminate cash and cheque transaction.
Guidelines will be closely monitored as the situation changes and we will follow the recommendations of our governing bodies, WorkSafe BC, and the Provincial Health office.
Booking an appointment will require several steps to help us screen for COVID-19. To make an appointment:
Call or email me to book your emergent appointment in June.
Starting in July, online appointments will open up and can be scheduled via my website. Note, I am changing my booking engine to JaneApp and will no longer be using Genbook. Jane is a local full-service provider of clinic management software. All patients will be required to fill out a new initial health history when registering for the first time. I thank you in advance for your patience as we all learn this new system!
Appointment start times will be specific to ensure there is not more than one patient arriving or leaving at the same time. It is important that you arrive on time to maintain social distancing.
The day before your scheduled treatment, I will call you to confirm that you have completed your online COVID screening and to discuss your symptoms and treatment goals. This will minimize face to face time in the treatment room.
You can expect the same level of attention, care, and competence as you have always received.
At the start of your appointment, a consent form will be completed, any assessments done, and treatment will begin.
You will notice a new plastic patient chair that will be sanitized after each treatment.
After your treatment, billing will be completed without physical transaction, and rebooking will be done by phone or email.
Social distancing will be practiced during all non-treatment time, which means keeping 2 meters apart. I have removed my desk chair and will sit on my stool to allow for more space between us.
Water bottle: At this time, we are no longer providing water and cups and ask that you please bring your own water bottle with you.
Credit card: In the event that we need to verify payment method, we ask that you please bring this with you to your appointment.
Mask: As previously mentioned, we will be requiring everyone to wear a mask in the clinic upon entry and for any time spent laying face up. If you do not have access to a mask, we will happily provide you one for $1.
